Installing Dial-up Networking
1) Click the Windows Start button, select Programs, then accessories.
If there is a program called Dial-up Networking, skip to “Installing TCP/IP”.
2) If you did not have Dial-up Networking in the accessories menu,
go to the Windows Start button, click settings, choose Control panel.
3) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
4) Click on the Windows Setup tab.
5) Double-click on Communications.
6) Be sure that Dial-up Networking is checked.
7) Click on the ok button, click okay again.
8) If prompted, insert your Windows95 disk.
9) If prompted, for Computer Name, Workgroups, or Descriptions,
use your username, geetel, and your real name respectively.
10) If prompted, restart your computer.
Installing The TCP/IP Protocol
1) Click on the Windows Start button, click settings, and then click
Control Panel.
2) Double-click on the Network icon.
You should have a list of installed network protocols here.
3) If you have TCP/IP skip to “Configuring TCP/IP”
4) Click on the Add button.
5) Double-click on Protocol.
6) In left column choose Microsoft.
7) In the right column double-click TCP/IP
8) You should now see a list of installed components.
9) Now proceed to “Configuring TCP/IP.”
Configuring TCP/IP
1) Click the Windows Start button, then Settings, then Control Panel.
2) Double-click the Network icon.
3) Double-click on TCP/IP.
4) You should see 7 tabs.
5) Click on the WINS Configuration tab and put a dot in disable
WINS Resolutions.
6) Click on the DNS Configuration tab and put a dot in Enable DNS.
7) In the host field put your username in lower case letters.
8) In the domain field put in geetel.net in lower case letters
9) In the DNS Server Search Order field put in the following numbers:
208.15.165.10 then click add at the right. The number will drop to
the box below.
10) Again, in the DNS Server Search Order field put in the following
numbers: 204.120.165.37 then click add at the right.
11) For Domain Suffix Search Order put in geetel.net and then click
add at the right. It will drop to the box below.
12) Click OK out of TCP/IP, then click OK out of Network.
13) Your computer may prompt you to insert your Windows 95 disk,
do so and make sure you select the appropriate drive, if not
14) Your computer will confirm a settings change and ask you to
restart your computer
15) After restarting, exit out of Control Panel
Making The Connection
1) Click the Windows Start button, choose Programs, then accessories,
then click on Dial-up Networking.
2) If this is the first time in this area you will get a wizard
to setup a Dial-up Networking Icon. If a wizard does not appear,
double-click on the Make New Connection icon.
3) This screen is asking for a name, type geetel in the place of
My Connection, then click next.
4) Enter the telephone number: 2682525 (alternative numbers: 268-2175
and 268-2544)
5) Click next
6) Click finish.
7) Double-click on the geetel icon.
8) In the username field put the username that you chose with us.
Make sure it is in lower case letters, and has no spaces or dots or commas.
9) In the password field, put in the password that you chose with
us, again make sure it is in lower case
10) Be sure the Phone number is correct and then click cancel.
11) Then right click on the geetel icon.
12) Then left click properties
13) Take the check mark out of "Country Code and Area Code"
14) Click OK
15) Right click on the geetel icon again
16) Then left click create shortcut. (You will get a message saying
Windows cannot create a shortcut here, would you like to have it placed
on the desktop instead? Click yes)
17) Exit out of Dial up Networking
Now you are ready to get on the Internet. Just double-click the “Shortcut to geetel” icon, which is on your desktop, and make sure your username and password are correct, then click connect. Once connected you will get an online status saying you are connected, or an icon in the right hand corner of your screen of two computers linked together talking. Then double-click the Internet Explorer icon to browse the Internet. To disconnect from the Internet, double click the two little computers and select disonnect.

GEETEL.NET EMAIL SETUP
This section will set up your email. To be able to set up your email
you will need to be in your Internet Explorer program. You will select
one of the following. You will decide which one to select by the type of
mail program you have. Most customers have the program Internet Mail or
Outlook Express on their computers…
Please select the set of instructions that refer to your given email
program
Internet Mail on Internet Explorer version 3.x (if your Internet Explorer icon on your desktop is a globe, then this is you)
1. Click on Go
2. Scroll down on menu to Read Mail.
3. When new window opens click on Mail
4. Scroll down on menu to Options
5. Across the top of the new window click on the Server tab
Name-whatever you wish it to show on email (non case
sensitive)
Organization-whatever you want
Email address: username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Incoming Mail Server: pop3.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Put a dot in Logon using:
Account Name: your username (lower case letters)
Password: your password (lower case letters)
6. Click on Advanced Settings button
Fill in reply to address, same as email address (lower case
letters)
7. Click on OK
8. Click OK, again
9. Congratulations you have now configured your computer to send
and receive email.
Netscape Navigator 3.x (Older version of Netscape)
1. Click on options in the title bar
2. left-click on Mail and News Preferences.
3. Left click on the Servers tab
4. The outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.geetel.net (lower case
letters)
5. The incoming mail (POP3) server: pop3.geetel.net (lower case
letters)
6. The pop3 username is your account name (lower case letters)
7. The news (NNTP) server is news.geetel.net (lower case letters)
8. At the top click on the identity tab
9. Your name is your name (not case sensitive)
10. Your email address is username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
11. Your reply-to-address is username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
12. Left click the ok at the bottom of the window
13. Congratulations you have now configured your email for Netscape
Navigator.
Netscape Communicator (Newer version of Netscape, usually 4.x)
1. Left-click on Edit and select Preferences
2. In the left hand column under Category find Mail and Groups
3. Change the + sign to a – sign.
4. Click on Identity
Name is your name (Non-case Sensitive)
Email Address is username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
Reply to Address is the same as email Address (lower
case letters)
5. Under Category Click Server
Mail Server UserName is your username (lower case letters)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Incoming Mail Server (Pop3): pop3.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Ensure you have a dot in the choice POP3
Click OK.
Microsoft Outlook Express Setup (if your Internet Explorer icon on your desktop is a blue e, then this is you)
1. Double-click on Outlook Express Icon, located on your desktop
or go to mail, read mail in your Internet Explorer
2. Left-click on Tools
Select Accounts
3. Left-click on Mail Tab
4. If you have a Mail Account shown, if you do not, then skip to
step number 5
A. Double-click on the Account
Mail Account is the Name for Account (whatever you wish)
Name is your name (non-case sensitive)
Email Address: username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
Reply Address: username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
Ensure the box is checked to include this account when doing Full
Send and Receive
B. Left-click on the Servers Tab
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Incoming Mail (POP3): pop3.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Incoming Mail server is a POP3 server
C. Under Incoming Mail Server Select
Log on Using
Account Name: your username (lower case letters)
Password: your password (lower case letters)
D. Left-click on the Connection Tab
Select connect using my phone line
Use the Following Dial-Up Networking connection: click the down
arrow and left-click geetel
E. Left-click Apply
F. Left-click OK
G. You have now configured your email to geetel.
5. If you don’t have a Mail account showing,
A. Left-click ADD and left-click Mail
B. Display Name is your Name (non-case sensitive)
C. Press next
D. Email Address: username@geetel.net (lower case letters)
E. Press next
F. Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 server
Incoming Mail Server: pop3.geetel.net (lower case letters)
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.geetel.net (lower case letters)
G. Press next
H. Internet Mail Logon
Pop Account Name: your username (lower case letters)
Password: your password (lower case letters)
I. Press next
J. Friendly Name
Leave as is or name what you wish (non case sensitive)
K. Press next
L. Select connect using my phone line
M. Press next
N. Select using an Existing Dial-Up Connection
Left-click on geetel.
O. Press next
P. Press finish.
You have now configured Outlook Express
